Hi, my friends! Editorial - Harmony Attaining Balance and Harmony ----- Written by: Rev. Gigi ----- 1) Stress contributes to imbalance----- Stress factors can be people or situations (commitments) They could be your job, your friends and family, finances, what you watch on T.V. and what you read. They can also be commitments that you have made that fill up your time and don?t allow you to enjoy time for yourself. If you take the kids to practice and to the movies, volunteered for a committee, were selected president of some other club and joined the save the whales civic group, then, you probably are totally stressed and will have to look up the meaning of the word ?relaxation? in the dictionary because you have no idea what it is or have the foggiest concept of how to attain this state.-------- Ask for guidance and assistance with chores. All of these problems have solutions if you are open to let God do miracles for you. Ask for guidance and consider resigning from that committee. Let your husband, friend or neighbor take turns with you driving the kids to their activities. Look for a better job. Make new friends who share your ideas and who are positive about life. Consolidate your bills, etc.--------- Should and must ---------- We are guilty of causing our own stress with these two very destructive little words. Who said we should and who said we must? Those things we have to do we already do automatically like breathing and eating. Shoulds and musts are things we don?t enjoy, then we also tend to place very high expectations on these, and finally, if we don?t measure up because we didn?t, we are glad to punish ourselves by feeling guilty. SO what?s the point? Directing shoulds and musts towards other people then we feel anger, resentment and frustration.------ Relaxation, prayer and meditation ------ Relaxation includes activities like massages, hobbies, prayer and meditation. Of these activities, prayer and meditation deserve further discussion. Prayer is an attempt to talk to God and meditation is an attempt to listen. Both are important and God is listening when you pray and is present and communicating back to you when you meditate. The most effective type prayer is one of gratitude. Give thanks for all the gifts you have and even those you have not yet received.-------- Make a list of the top 5 stress factors in your life. Determine how often they enter your thoughts. Make a plan to change your thinking.-------- 2) A Negative Belief System(B.S.) creates imbalance ------ Stop having a ?sewer mentality? ------ A ?Sewer mentality? is when you are constantly thinking negative thoughts such as those that relate to guilt, hate, judgement on yourself or others, the ?why me? syndrome, resentment, fear, anger, jealousy or any other feeling that does not bring you peace. These thoughts will drain your energy and waste your time! Analyze your self-talk and change the ?I can?t? statements to ?I CAN?. Look objectively at your assets. ------ Limiting Beliefs ------ They stop you from shining your light, being all you can be and attaining your highest potential.------- Examples------- I?m never going to be able to....----- I?m too busy, too tired, I can?t get motivated, my life is a rut and there?s no way out!!----- I?m overweight, therefore I?m unattractive, therefore I?m not worthy (or lovable)------ #1 Limiting belief is low self-esteem.------ Balance in the Universe is Unity and Unity is Love. Therefore, improving your self-appreciation(self-love) will bring balance and harmony into your life. Your self-image determines your level of happiness with yourself. If you are not happy with yourself, what can you do about it? You can continue to feel miserable and unworthy or you can get to a day in your life where you say enough!! I will decide from now on to like myself. Your self-image today could be that you feel weak, unattractive, dull, vulnerable, unloving, clumsy, old or a number of other adjectives that we choose to accept as true for ourselves. I ask you? what good does this do? Can you take an honest inventory of your assets and say, I do have many good qualities and I am one of God?s unique creations with many gifts to give to the world? ------ The worst enemy you have is your thoughts ------ Constant evaluation of your worth. ------ You are constantly asking the question: Am I worthy? Am I worthy of being loved? Do I have any value? --- Beliefs are investments.----- The only way to change our B.S. is to withdraw our thoughts from them. Refuse to give them control over your life by actively being vigilant against these thoughts. Put these thoughts out of your mind by withdrawing your investment in them. Learn to appreciate yourself one thought at a time, one moment at a time. Moment by moment make a decision to be happy.------ Make a list of your B.S. ------- Get rid of your B.S.!!!!------- 3) Learn to use the laws of the Universe for your benefit. The laws of the Universe are such that they were designed to create balance and harmony on earth-------- Law of Attraction--------- We attract that which we believe about ourselves.-------- Nothing is impossible except that which you judge to be impossible. The possibility of anything must first exist as a possibility in your mind so that it can be manifested. As we see ourselves we attract to us that which we expect. Therefore, if your thoughts are mostly about how you cannot loose weight, how can you manifest a thin body? If you are constantly thinking about not being able to pay your bills, how do you expect to attract wealth? Thoughts are energy that create and manifest.------ He who thinks mostly about illness will be sick-------- He who thinks mostly about lack of money will be poor------- I will never be happy------- I will never find the right partner for me------- Whatever you think about you are inviting into your reality. Therefore, monitor your thoughts. Think only about what you want. Focus on this. The other side of this is one which we are rarely taught by our parents, teachers or ministers and that is ?if you see anyone having those characteristics you don?t like, then, you are strengthening these faults in you. If you honor your brothers you will be honored(blessed) to the same exact measure that you put forth towards your brothers. Give them appreciation, blessings. By loving everything God created, you are also loving yourself as one of God?s creations, you are achieving balance through harmony of the spirit and you will receive the gift of peace into your life.---------- Having rests on giving and not on getting. Give love and you will receive love - nothing will make you happier than knowing you are loved.------- Volunteering -------- Give meaning to your life and you will feel worthy. Make each day count. Make a difference. Volunteer in your community. Make time for friends and family, but not just ?hang out? time but quality time. Time spent making them feel good, making them happy, giving of your time to help. Give Love, kind words and appreciation The most important law of the Universe is that to have Love you must give Love. No other way is there. Be the one giving out the ?Happy Energy?. Nothing melts the hardened heart like a smile. Be one who listens. Be a friend. Give as you would like to receive. Being truly helpful is one of the gifts you can give to your brothers on earth. Give hugs and kisses and praise. You are giving love when you speak words of kindness, praise or appreciation. The world needs this so much!!------- The opposite of love is fear------- Fear takes shape as guilt, resentment, jealousy, sadness, depression, anger, feelings of superiority or inferiority and many more disgusting and unnecessary emotions. When we live in fear, there is no room for love. This is a waste of our time and it can shape our lives in a negative way, putting us out of balance. Thoughts are energy and they do manifest into our reality. If your thoughts are constantly fearful, what you fear will happen in your life. Think of ways of bringing more love into your life on a daily basis. God created beings who have everything individually, but who want to share it to increase their joy. This is the truth about you and everyone else. Include the words ?I love you? in your vocabulary. Say them often and freely. Begin your sentences with ?I love...? Make decisions out of love, not fear or guilt or resentment. Treat everyone as a friend. Everyone is important and worthy in the eyes of God. ------- Practical applications:------- Make it a goal to notice positive aspects about other people. Note them in your mind and make comments about this to others whenever possible. In particular I like to focus on beauty and try to see the beauty in all human beings.------- 4) Self-righteousness vs. Harmony------ Ask yourself: Is conflict what I want or is God?s peace a better choice? Would I rather be ?right? or ?happy?? Choose ?happy? at all times. Nothing is so important as to allow it to make you loose your peace. --------- Choose Again!! Re-think. Let God do his part in healing and helping. Decide each day that ?Nothing is more important than to be happy?. Use this as your daily affirmation. Think only thoughts that make you feel happy. Practice everyday by concentrating only on the positive aspects of everyday life.-------- 5) Shine! Discover your God-given talent. By Fulfilling our purpose we bring harmony into our lives What is our purpose on Earth? Do you really believe we are here to make money so that we can be a success and so that our children can be financially secure? Or are we here to impress people by the way we look and the automobile we drive? There are myriads of other ways in which we determine whether we are a ?success? or a ?failure? and, yet, which one is God using to determine our success or failure? By seeking outside ourselves for external measures of success, we will always feel empty, unfulfilled and in chaos(out of balance). Seek within and find meaning in your life. Only then will you feel whole and peaceful.--------- Marianne Williamson said it brilliantly when she wrote in her book A return to Love: ?It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. We ask ourselves: Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented and fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small doesn?t serve the world. There?s nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won?t feel insecure around you. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us.? Listen to your inner guidance and it will always lead you to joy. Seek not outside for guidance, seek not to be conformist but a unique expression of your Creator. Do not seek guidance from every authority figure but question instead the validity of their premises. The world is focused on lack and negativity. Do not contribute your energy to this cause. You have access to the knowledge of the soul, you can access that eternal truth.------ 6) Make peace your goal------ The reason why we?re not at peace at all times is simple. We don?t have time for God. Everything else takes priority. To what are you dedicating your time and thoughts? That is what shapes your life!--------- We are running late for work so we can?t take time to meditate in the mornings. At work it?s too busy to do anything anyway. At home dinner has to be cooked. We have to watch another rerun of ?Happy Days?. We have to do laundry, pay the bills that would be late otherwise. Even our nails get done before we even begin to conjure the thought of our spirituality. That?s the problem! Here?s a suggestion. Use meditation as a means to attempt to listen to God?s guidance. Peace is impossible for those who choose to see conflict and war. Peace is inevitable for those who offer peace to everyone they meet.-------- Conclusion-------- Positive feelings are communication from your Higher Self saying you are in harmony with your Creator. Sadness, fear, loneliness, insecurity, and other negative feelings are communication that your physical being is not in harmony with your Creator. Seek within for freedom, joy, peace, love, harmony, well-being and happiness.------ All the ideas presented in this article are helpful only if they are applied. Try to monitor your thoughts for an entire week. What is your main worry? Be vigilant of thoughts that take away your peace. Remember that worrying is using your imagination to create something you don?t want.-------- Also, the standard of success in life isn?t the things.
